Day Care Information

Registration

All youth ages 3-18 must be registered to participate in programs at the Center. A Transportation Permission Form must be filled out in order to transport youth whether from school or on a field trip.

A Food and Nutrition Form must be filled out for youth ages 3-12 for purposes of after-school snack and supper. All youth between the ages of 3 and 12 must present an up-to-date immunization certificate. The times parents can enroll their children are: Monday- 6a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday- 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday- 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Day Care hours are 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

At these times, parents need to bring their child's immunization before they can participate in any of the Center's activities.

Attendance

Attendance information is kept on each child. If your child is between the ages of 3 and 8 (in the Neighborhood Playhouse Program) years of age a parent or otherwise appointed person MUST sign the child in and out of the Center unless the child rides the van to the Center during the week (in which case the child must only be signed out).

The Center must have the name of the appointed person(s) on file. A child who is enrolled in the Neighborhood Playhouse Program must attend regularly. If a child is ill and is not going to attend, we must be notified. Sick Policy A child who is ill should not come to the Center. If your child becomes ill while at the Center we will notify you. We must have an updated address and phone number on file at all times. If your child has had a fever, upset stomach, vomiting, or diarrhea the night before, please wait 24 hours before returning him/her to the Center.

Newsletters or Notes Home

The H.L. Neblett Community Center has many activities going on for the entire community. Our means of communicating these activities and events to you is by notes sent home with your child and monthly newsletters. It is very important that you look at all notes that your child brings home each day or newsletters that you receive in the mail monthly.

Snacks and Meal

Nutrition is an essential part of good health. Proper nutrition is also an important part of good childcare program. The H.L. Neblett Community Center, Inc. offers a daily lunch at 12:30 p.m., snack at 2:30 p.m., and supper at 4:30 p.m. Meals and snacks consist of meat, vegetables and/or fruit, bread or bread alternative, and milk.

Please remember that in order for your child to participate in this program the Food and Nutrition Form must be filled out and returned to the Center. Clothing The children will be involved in active play, activities, and other forms of recreation; therefore, play clothes should be worn to the Center. We will go outside when the weather permits so please be sure your child has appropriate clothing for the weather. Coats, hats, mittens, etc., should have the child's name on them.

Medications

The Center DOES NOT administer medications. You may come to the Center to administer medication to your child. Van Transportation Sign-Up You must notify the school that your child will be riding the van. Please call the Center if Van Transportation is needed for your child from school. Please remember that you must fill out a Van Transportation Form. Also, you must inquire as to whether van transportation from your child's school is available. Remember YOU will be responsible to pick your child up by 6:30 p.m. if he/she is between the ages of 3 and 8.

Van Transportation Procedures

1. Your child must be waiting (along with school personnel) to be picked up from the area the school designates.

2. Your child must not stand in the road while waiting on the van.

3. Your child must not run toward or in the front of the van while it is moving.

4. The van driver is in charge of the bus. The driver will monitor and report behavior problems to the Centers director.

5. Children are not allowed to: a. Eat or drink on the van b. Possess weapons or sharp objects on the van c. Bring animals on the van d. Throw articles or objects in or out of the van e. Fight or call names f. Tamper with equipment or controls on the van.

1. Your child must behave on the van just as he/she is expected to behave in the Center. Fighting, pushing, name-calling, cursing, and other offensive acts will not be tolerated.

2. Misconduct on the van is subject to the same disciplinary measures as mis- conduct at the Center. Van privileges may be suspended until evidence of acceptable behavior is shown.

Parent Sign-In Policy

If you bring your child to the center, you are responsible to make sure your child is delivered to a staff member before you leave the premises. Please do not allow your child to find his/her own way. Your child cannot be left in the corridor alone until the Center opens as the staff has other responsibilities prior to the opening of the activity and recreation area. When the Center closes, please pick your child up from the staff and sign the child out. You can not leave your child here for more then 9 hours a day. There will be a late fee of $2.50 every additional hour. If you need additional hours for work, make arrangements with the director.

Parent Conference

Any parent/ parents needing to confer in any regards to a child must see the director, assistant director, and/or the program coordinators.

Parent Volunteer

Volunteering is encouraged and welcomed in our program. Family members can volunteer in the classroom or in other components of our program. We like to have parent involvement. Parents are always welcome to volunteer anytime the center is open. Parents need to sign in and out as they enter and leave the Center.
